Protecting Concrete against Aggressive Attacks

If you require a system to protect the concrete against chemical attacks, thermal fluctuations, cracks, and abrasion, AKS (Anchor Knob Sheet) is the perfect solution. AKS provides a robust, chemically inert, permanent protective skin. This system uses anchor knobs for attachment. 

                         

The knobs are integrally formed with the sheets. The sheet is made of HDPE, LLDPE, or PP. The thickness of the sheet ranges from 2 to 5 mm, and its width is extruded up to 3m. It has 1230 knobs/m2, and a high pull-out resistance per knob.

Sewers and Sewage Tunnels 

AKS is used to protect concrete against aggressive bacterial attacks in the sewers. The bacteria is called Thiobacillus Concretivorus which exerts Sulfuric acid onto the surface of the sewer in the gaseous zone.

Singapore Sewer: >48km long, up to 45 m below ground, 3.3 to 6 m dia. AKS used for concrete protection. 

Orbital (robotic) welding machine used. Same system is used in one of the U.A.E's strategic sewerage tunnels.
